Registered voters in Virginia need to confirm their identity when they vote in person. There are several forms of identification you can use. Most voters do not need a copy of their ID to vote by mail in Virginia.

Is out-of-state ID accepted? No. You cannot use an ID issued by another state.

Is student ID accepted? Yes. You can use an ID issued by a high school in Virginia or post-high school institution in the United States

Is an expired ID accepted? Sometimes.
You can use an ID that is expired up to 12 months.
