What is Child Care for NC?

Child Care for NC: United for Change is a community gathering to bring child care providers, parents, businesses and community leaders together to tell the NC General Assembly that we are united for much-needed change and investment in child care in our state. Our child care system is in crisis, and this urgent crisis calls for urgent action. It has never been more important to show our collective advocacy strength.

We are closing for ONE DAY on May 16th so we don’t have to close centers, family child care homes, and classrooms forever in the coming months. Your story, your experience, and your participation is critically important. Together, we can show our communities and our policymakers just how essential child care is for young children, parents, businesses, and our state’s economy. Financial resources and support getting to Raleigh will be available to bring together people from across the state that day.

In addition to joining us in Raleigh, there are a number of ways you can support making Child Care for NC as powerful as it can be. Here are just a few ideas:

  • Hold an info session about May 16 with your staff or community to help people prepare
  • Be a local point-person/ contact for your community to get more people to Raleigh and share information
  • Have a postcard or letter-writing campaign to encourage families and staff to contact their legislators.
  • Host a call-in day on Monday, May 13th to encourage families and staff to call their legislators.
  • Provide families with stickers and buttons to wear to work on May 16th if they can’t attend in person.
  • Create children’s artwork to send to legislators.
  • Other ideas welcomed and encouraged!
