As of Jan. 1, 2022, all house cleaners, nannies and caregivers working in Chicago must be given written contracts that include the agreed-upon wage and work schedule information — and be written in the workers’ preferred language. Our affiliate ARISE Chicago was instrumental in this victory, which will help to protect the city’s 56,000 workers from wage theft and extra work outside the previously agreed upon scope. They have sample contracts for domestic workers in Chicago for download.

Effective January 1, 2022, all Chicago employers of nannies, care workers, and home cleaners must provide their workers with a written contract in their preferred language.
