Our movement is powerful. We have been building power to win an economy where care and domestic work receives the dignity and respect it deserves and a democracy where women workers have a voice. We will hear from longtime members about our Alliance’s history and development, highlight our most recent victories and hear from domestic worker leaders on our resolve at this moment.
The care our families and communities rely upon is facing unprecedented threats, and our leadership is needed more than ever. We are organizing to support our communities, to stop the harm and to model our vision for care. Our vision for the future remains clear: Care is essential, domestic workers deserve dignity, and families should have the support they need to thrive. This plenary session will cover what’s at stake and why action is urgently needed.
On Friday, care workers will take to the streets in defense of our families and the essential care Medicaid provides. We will raise our voices against the colossal wealth being transferred from working class taxpayers to the wealthiest minority in America. The march will feature the voices of parents, caregivers, people with disabilities and frontline care workers whose lives will be upended by cuts to Medicaid and by increased threats to immigrant communities.
We live in a time where technology and media are in a constant battle for our attention. Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI) are rapidly changing our lives and work. Care workers provide the human, essential support that families need to thrive, and must have a voice in shaping how the future unfolds. This session will introduce learnings about the developments in technology and AI in the care industry and the perspective of care workers on these developments.
Our role as organizers and movement leaders is to help workers and our communities stay hopeful, connected to solutions and to one another – to find the way forward. This panel features NDWA leaders and key partners to share strategies that are helping build the movement in this time, highlighting the bright spots bringing us hope, and opportunities for building power for the long term.
