What does it mean to be an NDWA member?

You are part of a national network of nannies, housecleaners, and home care workers. Members get access to the Membership Center, Ask Aya, and opportunities to feel connected, improve work conditions, and win rights.

Who can be an NDWA member?

Any nanny, childcare provider, housecleaner or home care worker can become a member. Your immigration status and employment status do not matter. If the work you do helps families and households, you belong here.

Do I need to pay membership dues?

No. Membership is free. To remain a member in good standing, simply contribute by participating in at least two ways each year through the Membership Center. These can include attending events, joining calls to action, sharing feedback, or making a donation.

What are my NDWA member benefits?

What is Ask Aya?

Ask Aya is a digital personal assistant powered by AI (artificial intelligence) and the collective wisdom of thousands of domestic and care workers. Aya can provide coaching, and personalized guidance to help you work through common workplace challenges, set boundaries and more.

What do I need to sign up?

An email address, your zip code, and a few minutes of your time. That’s it! If you don’t have an email address, we can help you create one.

I don’t have an email address. How can I make one?

You can create a free email address on your phone in a few minutes. Many members use Gmail.

  1. Go to gmail.com
  2. Tap “Create account”
  3. Choose “For my personal use”
  4. Enter your name, basic information, choose a new email address, and create a password.
  5. Write your email and password somewhere safe.

How will my data by protected?

Your privacy is our priority. We will never share or sell your data. Your information is used only to connect you with the resources, support, and community you signed up for.

What happens after I sign up?

You’ll get access to the Membership Center right away, which includes tools, training, events, campaigns, news, and everything you need to learn and grow. You’ll also get unlimited access to Ask Aya for navigating workplace challenges and understanding your rights.

Do I need to be part of a local organization or affiliate to join NDWA?

You can join NDWA whether or not you are part of a local organization. If you are a member of a local domestic worker organization or an NDWA affiliate, you still need to sign up separately to become an NDWA member and use the Membership Center. Your local organization is your local home, and NDWA is your national home.
