NDWA Membership is Changing in March 2026!

NDWA is transitioning to a new and improved membership model that was shaped by feedback from existing members like you. More than 1,000 domestic workers shared their ideas and hopes of how to make NDWA membership more powerful and useful! We are so excited to share what we have built together, as a result of that input.

In March, NDWA’s new Membership Center will launch, and become the place where we deliver our new membership model!

This means that our current membership model will come to an end. As of February 13th 2026, all current memberships will be canceled.

Our current members like you are important to us! We want you to be the first to know what’s new and we want to offer you special, hands-on support to reinstate your membership under the new model. We are excited to help you sign up for the new NDWA membership and welcome you back in!

What will NDWA Membership look like in 2026?

Here are some of the features of the new membership model:

NDWA will no longer charge membership dues.

NDWA will no longer charge membership dues. We made this change so that membership will be easier for all domestic workers to access and will help us build our collective power. Under the new model, members will commit to taking at least two actions per year to help get us all closer to our vision of all domestic and care jobs being good jobs. Financial donations will be welcome, but dues will no longer be charged.

What this means for you:

  • If you are a monthly recurring dues payer, you will no longer be charged.
  • If you paid for an annual membership, we’ll refund the portion of your dues that extends beyond February 13, 2026. The refund will be issued to the card you used for payment.

New Member Benefits & Resources

When you sign up for the new NDWA membership, you will see that we have exciting new additions to our members benefits package. The core benefit of being an NDWA member will be tools to help you win the good working conditions you need and deserve.

New benefits include unlimited access to Ask Aya, our new AI-powered personal assistant that can help you negotiate for better working conditions and navigate common workplace challenges.

You will also have access to other resources in the new Membership Center, including a video library of worker tips, a domestic worker newsfeed, a personalized calendar of events and more. It’s taken us over a year to build these exciting new member benefit tools, and we can’t wait to share them with you.

We’ll continue to offer select third party benefits like high quality financial counseling from Trust Plus, and prescription discounts from Union Plus. We will constantly be on the lookout for new benefits to offer!

What this means for you:

  • You’ll be able to access these exciting benefits once you sign up through the new portal when we launch in March.
  • We are discontinuing the benefits that were hard for our members to access or didn’t serve our full membership. This means that we are discontinuing our life insurance offering; the final day of coverage for members who qualified will be February 13th, 2026.

Simpler Member Sign-up

We have built a simpler membership sign-up process. Joining under the new model is simple, and we’re here to offer support during the transition.

What this means for you:

  • To remain an NDWA member, you will need to sign up again on our new membership portal that will go live in mid-March. Your existing membership will NOT automatically transfer.
  • In mid-March, you will receive email and text communications with instructions for how to sign up.

An Important Note on Joint Membership

A special note to domestic workers who participated in our joint membership pilot programs with Carroll Gardens Association, Matahari Women Workers Center and Pilipino Workers Center: You will need to reinstate your membership with your local organization, separately from NDWA’s new membership program. National and local memberships go hand in hand. Being a member of both your local domestic worker organization and NDWA gives you double the support, double the voice and double the power. The dues that you pay at the local level are essential for local domestic worker organizing to thrive! Please reach out to your local organizer if you have questions.

Questions?

After the launch, we’ll also be offering 1 on 1 sign up support for anyone who needs it.

We will be back in touch again when we officially launch the new NDWA Membership Center! In the meantime, if you have any questions at all, feel free to reach out to us at [email protected]
