Email NC Lawmakers: Fund Care Before the End of the Legislative Session

Essential funding for home care and child care in North Carolina is on the line. 

Right now, the North Carolina General Assembly is in the middle of critical negotiations about what will go into the state budget. If NC lawmakers fail to meaningfully invest in care and in the workers who provide it, more child care programs will be forced to close their doors, and the home care workers who take care of our most vulnerable loved ones will continue to leave the industry due to low wages. 

We have a small window to make our demands heard. The North Carolina General Assembly must:

• Prevent more child care program closures by making child care subsidy payments more fair and stable
• Increase funding for Medicaid-based personal care services, and ensure the home care workers who provide those services receive a fair wage for the essential work they do
• Protect the right to overtime pay for home care workers in the face of federal rollbacks to worker rights.
