Each month, we highlight the voices and stories of our members who are making a difference in the domestic work movement. These interviews celebrate the dedication, skill, and heart that care workers bring to their communities, while shedding light on their personal journeys, inspirations, and visions for a future where all care work is respected and valued.

What does Care Recognition month mean to you?

As domestic workers, we are able to provide care, nurture and give so much, so to be recognized for my professionalism gives me a great sense of pride in my work.

As a mother, what was your inspiration to become a domestic worker?

I supported children in the community and have always enjoyed giving children love and affection. Being a girl mom, I took pride in dressing up my girls and seeing the joy in their faces. Working as a professional domestic worker provided me the opportunity to surround myself with children, to witness their development and watch them grow while being able to provide them with care, love and affection.

Share a highlight being in a movement that centers care and women.

We are able to encourage other women because we are not alone and we are a part of a larger community where we can share our stories and listen to each other. We find strength on the journey, knowing we care for each other and we are united through love.

Words of inspiration

“Be strong, overlook obstacles and give love from a caring heart.”
