Fighting ableism in our lives, workplaces, and public policy*

April 13 @ 9:30 am EDT

People with disabilities experience discrimination, exclusion, and vulnerability because of the way our society devalues and dehumanizes disability – this system is called ableism. Domestic workers – especially caregivers, homecare workers and home attendants – play a critical role in providing support to people with disabilities and seniors to be able to live with dignity in their homes and communities. This workshop aims to help workers and their employers better understand their shared experiences and common interest in ending ableism. Led by disability justice advocates and Hand in Hand members, this workshop will also be an opportunity to learn about how policy advancements support both domestic workers and people with disabilities.
