Sacramento, CA—This week, the National Domestic Workers Alliance sent 1,000 sponges to Governor Jerry Brown, calling for him to clean up his act after bowing to pressures from big business and the Chamber of Commerce to veto the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights (AB 889).

At the end of the legislative term last month, Governor Brown vetoed the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, denying basic labor protections to thousands of domestic workers across California. The bill would have extended protections most American workers take for granted, like meal and rest breaks, minimum wage standards, and recourse for workplace abuse.
