URGENT Action for the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights
6.24.2011 | CA Domestic Workers Coalition

The Senate Labor Committee is strongly considering NOT passing the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights. We have heard that to make their decision, the Senate Labor Committee members are specifically looking to hear from employers and people with disabilities. BUT EVERYONE should take action and put the pressure on. If you support the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, NOW IS THE TIME TO TAKE ACTION.
1. CONTACT THE SENATE LABOR COMMITTEE
Use our online action page HERE, or use the sample letter of support HERE - http://bit.ly/kFcDiX - and just add your name and any specifics about your situation and send letters of support to: grecia@mujeresunidas.net
2. MAKE CALLS:
CALL:
o Senator Ted W. Lieu, Chair of the Senate Labor Committee: (916) 651-4028
o Senator Mark DeSaulnier, Member of the Senate Labor Committee: (916) 651-4007
If they ask a question you don't know the answer too, don't worry! Just express why you support the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights, and say you don't know but will try to get the answer, then send the question to: domesticemployers@gmail.com
ATTEND THE LABOR HEARING:
Wednesday Juy 6th: board the bus from SF, Oakland or Los Angeles and flood Sacramento with supporters of the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights. It will be critical to speak directly to the Labor Committee and show them that domestic employers, people with disabilities, and senior support the Domestic Workers Bill of Rights. Interested?
