Five Years of Leading with Love

In just five years of work together, we have accomplished more than we could have dreamed! What incredible victories: the passage in 2010 of the nation’s first Domestic Worker Bill of Rights in New York state; commitment from the federal government to change regulations in support of domestic and home-care worker rights; the passage of the first Convention on Domestic Worker at the International Labor Organization; and significant visibility helping to change the conversation about domestic work!

NY Domestic Worker Bill of Rights

The nation's first Domestic Worker Bill of Rights is Signed in New York

We have grown to be a 35-organization-strong alliance, working in 18 cities and 12 states and and we continue to build every day. Through our We Belong Together campaign, we are bringing women and children together around the country to help end the separation of families. Through the Caring Across Generations campaign, we are helping to build a new movement for jobs and a more caring economy. And though Governor Jerry Brown vetoed the California Domestic Worker Bill of Rights this year, we remain committed to ending more than 70 years of injustice and exclusion from labor protections by winning domestic worker rights, not only in California but all across the nation.

This work has been truly transformative — for our members, for the families whose lives they touch, for the possibility of a more caring, just society. And it has been driven by love for one other, our children — and love for who and what our nation can become. It’s time to celebrate all this collective achievement and give special recognition to leaders who have been at the forefront, powering all that we do. Join us for LEADING WITH LOVE!
