The National Domestic Workers Alliance is working to mobilize domestic workers and our allies in support of the Department of Labor (DoL) proposed regulations on minimum wage and overtime for home care workers. We are currently supporting a change.org petition. This toolkit is designed to help you collect signatures and use this as an opportunity to organize and build leadership.

Domestic workers care for the things we value the most: our families and our homes. They care for our children, provide essential support for seniors and people with disabilities to live with dignity at home, and perform the domestic work that makes all other work possible. They are skilled and caring professionals, but for many years, they have labored in the shadows, and their work has not been valued.

For the past five years, we have been working to change that. In 2010, we won the first-ever Domestic Worker Bill of Rights in New York state, guaranteeing basic labor protections to domestic workers throughout the state.

We’ve got big plans for 2013 — and we’re counting on your support to transform these plans into rights and equality for hundreds of thousands of women in California, Massachusetts, and Illinois.
