TAKE ACTION TODAY – Comment on the proposed regulations: www.caringacrossgenerations.org/take-action
We are especially happy that our demand of employer record keeping of worker’ hours is part of the proposed regulations. Currently, only employers of domestic workers who do not live in their employer's homes are required to keep these records. Live-in domestic workers are especially vulnerable to wage and hour violations and exploitation, and this requirement is critical to effective enforcement of their rights to be compensated fully and fairly. We know that this moment was only possible because of the tireless work and sacrifice of our movement to make invisible work visible. But the struggle is not over. These new regulations are an important step towards having all work valued, but they are not final – they have just been opened for comments for approximately two months. The Department of Labor needs to hear our stories and how we will benefit from these changes. Visit www.caringacrossgenerations.org/take-action for information and tools to submit your comment. |
